Childcare
Nutrition
We believe nutrition plays a big part in a child’s development
and learning ability. We shop weekly for our groceries and prepare
nutritious, hot, home made meals daily. All meals are included
in the cost of tuition and meet age appropriate food
component requirements required by the US Department of Agriculture.
We do not serve combination foods, such as corn
dogs, or foods with a lot of additives and preservatives, such as
canned spaghetti. Every
meal served contains foods that are fresh and whole.
A Kid’s World is a member of the Child Nutrition Program mandated
by the US Department of Agriculture. This is a voluntary program that
very few child care centers participate in. To be a part of this
program, each participating center must agree to periodic inspections
from a nutrition specialist assigned by the Texas Department of Human
Services (TDHS). It is the duty of the nutrition specialist to ensure
the children enrolled at A Kid’s World are receiving proper serving
amounts from all four-food groups and to provide training to staff
members on proper child nutrition.
In return for complying with the strict nutritional
requirements set forth by TDHS, A Kid’s World receives monetary compensation from
TDHS to help with the high cost of good nutrition. Not only does this
compensation enable us to serve the healthiest meals, but it allows
us to keep the cost of tuition down.
We have been a part of this program, and our parents
have been enjoying the benefits since 1997.
